Authorized Dealer and Professional Installer
Intrepid Rooftop Tents
GTRV is an authorized dealer and professional installer for Intrepid Camp Gear, a Colorado-based company that builds hardshell rooftop tents, aluminum cargo cases, and camping accessories. We carry the full Intrepid product line, including every tent in the GEO series.
Intrepid's tents are well built: honeycomb aluminum construction, 60-second setup, 7 inches closed, and a 3-year warranty. We chose to carry them because the engineering holds up, and they're the kind of product we're comfortable putting our name behind.
When you buy through GTRV, we handle the installation. We assess your rack system, verify load ratings, and mount the tent so it's level and secure. If you need a rack upgrade, we can take care of that too.
The GEO Rooftop Tent Series
Six models, ranging from a compact solo tent to a family-size three-person setup. All share the same core construction: hardshell aluminum with a honeycomb composite lid. Here's the current lineup.
GEO 2.5 Pro
The most popular tent in the GEO series. Sleeps 2-3. Interior dimensions are 86.5" x 53" x 51", with a weight of about 165 lbs including the mattress. The Pro adds a rear door awning for shade and weather protection, a diesel heater and AC port, and a tent storage cover. Available in Black, Camo, and Coyote Brown.
If you're not sure which tent to get, this is a good place to start. It has the features most people end up wanting without pushing into the larger sizes.
GEO 2.5
Same tent, same dimensions, same construction as the 2.5 Pro, without the Pro extras. No rear awning, no heater port. If you don't need those features, this saves $500 and gives you the same sleeping space.
GEO 3.0 Pro
The largest and most fully equipped tent in the GEO series. Sleeps 3 adults comfortably. Interior dimensions are 86.5" x 61" x 51", with a weight of about 187 lbs including the mattress. Eight inches wider than the 2.5, which makes a real difference for families or anyone who wants extra room. Includes the full Pro feature set: rear awning, heater/AC port, tent storage cover. [Note: currently listed as sold out on Intrepid's site. Contact us for availability.]
GEO 3.0
Same dimensions and construction as the 3.0 Pro, without the Pro extras. If you want the extra sleeping space but don't need the awning or heater port, this saves $500.
GEO 2.0
The compact option. Good for smaller vehicles or lighter roof loads.
GEO Solo
A single-person tent designed to take up minimal roof space. If you need room on your rack for bikes, skis, or a cargo box alongside the tent, the Solo leaves that space open.
Professional Installation
When you buy a tent through GTRV, we handle the installation. That starts with assessing your vehicle's rack system: checking crossbar spacing, dynamic weight ratings (your crossbars need to support at least 176 lbs of dynamic load), and making sure the mounting hardware works with your specific setup.
If your current rack isn't rated for a rooftop tent, or if you don't have one yet, we can recommend and install the right system for your vehicle. The tent goes on correctly the first time, level and secure, with the right bolt torque and plate angles.
Installation is billed as time and materials, and the scope depends on your vehicle and rack situation. Some installs are straightforward. Others involve a rack upgrade or custom fitting. Either way, we'll walk you through what's involved before we start.

FAQs
-
Most SUVs, trucks, and crossovers with a roof rack or crossbar system can support a rooftop tent. The key requirement is a dynamic weight rating of at least 176 lbs on your crossbars. Not all factory racks meet this threshold, so it's worth checking before you buy. We can help you figure out whether your current setup works or what you'd need to upgrade.
-
Intrepid tents come with universal mounting hardware that works with most crossbar systems and platform racks. That said, not all racks are built for the weight of a rooftop tent. Aftermarket heavy-duty crossbars are often a better choice than factory rails. If you're not sure what you have or what you need, we can assess your setup and install the right rack system.

Yes. Installation is part of what we do. We assess your rack system, verify load ratings, and mount the tent level and secure. If you need a rack upgrade, we handle that too. Installation is billed as time and materials, and we'll walk you through the scope before we start.
-
The GEO 2.5 weighs about 165 lbs with the mattress. The GEO 3.0 is about 187 lbs. The Solo is the lightest option. Add roughly 16 lbs for the ladder. Your vehicle's roof load rating and your rack's dynamic weight capacity both matter here, and we can help you check those numbers before you commit.

The tents themselves are not insulated, but they're solid enough for three-season use and can handle cold weather with the right preparation. Intrepid sells insulation skins as an accessory for colder conditions, and the Pro models include a port for a diesel heater or AC unit, which extends the comfortable range significantly.
